Delf Cottage
Self Catering Accommodation in Barnsley, South Yorkshire
Originally conceived as three farm workers' houses, Delf fulfilled this role until a several years ago. Two thirds of the building is now the home of Julie and Tim Elmhirst. The old No. 1 remains as a separate house, and it is this which is available for guests. Commissioned and built in the 1930's by a local farmer, the late A. O. Elmhirst, Delf Cottage was designed by International Modernist architect, Robert Hening MBE. A. O. Pom' Elmhirst was the younger brother of Leonard Elmhirst, who in partnership with his wife Dorothy, founded the Dartington Hall Estate and Trust near Totnes in South Devon.
