David L J Babey & Son
Carpenter in Salisbury, Wiltshire
From humble beginnings - working from a home garage in Romsey - the firm has grown steadily, investing in equipment, team and a workshop in the New Forest to supply a quality service in the area and beyond. In addition to furniture, we undertake both external and internal joinery work - windows (including repairs to sash windows) doors and conservatories, as well as wooden flooring, antique restoration and mainstream carpentry at competitive prices, allowing us to cover the local community effectively.

About Us
read moreWe undertake projects of any size, and have considerable experience of working with architects and interior designers on larger ventures. However, no job is too small, and we bring the same level of care and expertise to every job, irrespective of size. Increasingly we are asked to provide bespoke timber doors and windows to our discerning clientele who are eager to upgrade their properties sympathetically, with many sash window upgrades and period front doors. Built-in furniture has always been useful to maximise space, but progressively there is a desire on the part of the customer to contribute to a creative process in designing something with form as well as function.
Profile

Originally a sole trader working out of a garage in Romsey, David passed on his skills to his son Jeff, who joined the business in 1983. Jeff now heads up a small and dedicated team from a well-equipped workshop in Salisbury, and David is still a part-time member of the workforce. Our work has been featured in The Observer, Country Living magazine, and on Channel 4's Property Ladder.
