McDonald Racing became a part of drag racing in 1996, although at the time the founders and owners Stuart and Richard were not aware of what lay ahead in the coming years. In 1996 they attended their 1st drag racing event at Santa Pod Raceway, this event inspired them so much they wanted to be a part of this outrageous and exciting sport. Already working within the automotive industry, in early 1997 Stuart acquired a post on a Top Fuel Drag Racing Team as an engine mechanic. In 1998 Stuart moved to America where the staff went to race in top fuel drag racing in the NHRI circuit.
