Clark Door can trace its origins back to a timber merchant in Cranford, New Jersey, U. S. A in the latter part of the 19th century. The firm developed and expanded into door production and by the 1950's had 3 manufacturing sites in the U. S. A. With later operations in Canada, Sweden and South Africa. In 1973 Clark Door ltd was established as a joint venture between Clark Door Incorporated of the U. S. A and Christian Salvesen PLC with its original roots in manufacturing coldstore doors for the frozen food distribution industry in which Christian Salvesen now owned by Norbert Dentressangle was a leading player.
