The Channings group of nurseries supplies nursery care for babies, toddlers and pre-school kids in three nurseries serving the Oldham, Royton, Newhey and Milnrow areas. We currently have almost 20 years of nursery care experience. Our 1st nursery was opened by Catherine Hoggard (B. A. Hons PGCE) in Newhey in 1989. Each of our nurseries is situated in a building of character, and has its own special features. Please see Nurseries for details. Whilst our nurseries have their own personal attractions, much of our childcare planning and practice is common to all nurseries in the group.

Channings Childcare promotes a healthy diet whilst ensuring that every child is catered for according to their individual dietary requirements. We believe that meal-times should be a happy, relaxed time where children learn social skills, manners, good hygiene practice and healthy eating habits to last them a lifetime. read moreOn Monday 12th September 1989, six little 3 year old children sat around the 'green table' drinking their morning milk and chatting to Miss Sharon. That was the start of Channings Childcare. Today Channings has 6 nurseries and employs over 100 members of staff. During those years, more than 3,500 children have drunk their morning milk at Channings. We are celebrating over 30 years of Channings Childcare. The Channings team celebrated winning the Supporting Young People category of the Oldham Business Awards.
Child Development Qualifications
read moreOur staff are chosen to maintain a balance of older and younger, experienced and recently qualified and apprentice nursery assistants. We have many long serving staff (even one or two from the very beginning) and we're proud to say that we have generations of families with us. All nursery staff are screened by the DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) and undergo annual Staff Suitability Declaration checks. Parents are also part of our team. Dialogue with parents is an essential tool to help us provide the most effective nursery practice.
