About Us
read moreThe more you know about your pregnancy and your options, the more you are likely to feel in control. The information given here is based on The Pregnancy Book, which your midwife should give you at your first appointment. Here's a checklist of the vaccines that are routinely offered to everyone in the UK for free on the NHS, and the age at which you should ideally have them. Having an ill child can be a very scary experience for parents. If you understand more about the illness it can help you to feel more in control.

read moreIf you have a complaint or concern about the service you have received from the doctors or any of the staff working in this practice, please let us know. We operate a practice complaints procedure as part of a NHS system for dealing with complaints. Our complaints system meets national criteria. We hope that most problems can be sorted out easily and quickly, often at the time they arise and with the person concerned. If your problem cannot be sorted out in this way and you wish to make a complaint, we would like you to let us know as soon as possible - ideally, within a matter of days or at most a few weeks - because this will enable us to establish what happened more easily.

This makes the prescribing and dispensing process more efficient and convenient for patients and staff. Please speak to your preferred pharmacy about setting up a nominated pharmacy if you wish to take up this service. If you want to change or cancel your nomination speak to any pharmacist or dispensing appliance contractor that offers EPS - Tell them before your next prescription is due or your prescription may be sent to the wrong place.

It is not surprising that sometimes you or a loved one may feel bewildered or concerned when using the NHS. And this can be at times when you are feeling at your most vulnerable and anxious. So, what should you do if you want on the spot help when using the health service? The NHS expects all members of staff to listen and respond to you to the best of their ability.

read moreThere has been a Patients Participation Group (PPG) in Sydenham House Medical Centre since 2003, with a membership of 18 to 20 people over the years. The PPG currently meet about four times a year, usually on a Thursday lunch time at 12.30pm, together with selected members of staff from the Practice. In addition we aim to have at least 2 Open Forum meetings a year with just the patients to discuss our way forward. As a group I feel we need to be more proactive in order to improve our patients experience in the surgery.
