Driving Licence Categories
read moreThis guide has been prepared by Birmingham Driving School, and is intended to provide general information to help drivers to understand Driving Licence Categories and to stay legal; whilst every effort has been made to ensure that the information is accurate and up to date, it is not intended to be a legal guide. 2-wheeled or 3-wheeled vehicles with a maximum design speed of over 25km/h (15.5mph) but not more than 45km/h (28mph). 2-wheeled vehicles with a maximum design speed of over 45km/h (28mph) but not more than 50km/h (31mph).
Defensive Driving Course
read moreAdvanced Driving Tests could be said to be generally looking for two things, safety, and brisk progress. There is an expectation on an Advanced Driving Test that if it is safe to do so, you should be driving at the legal speed limit, and that if it is safe to do so, any overtaking opportunity should be taken. Safety must always be paramount, but generally it is expected that you will make the fastest progress that safety and legality allows. Whilst driving too slowly can be dangerous, many drivers will want to drive well, and drive safely, but will not always want to drive at the maximum safe speed.

Motorway Driving Tuition
read moreA network of motorways circle Birmingham and the West Midlands, so quite often it can also be useful to just travel 1 or 2 junctions even on local journeys. Statistically motorways are extremely safe, but, with the high speeds used, when something does go wrong it can be very serious. Motorway driving is different from urban driving, speeds are obviously much higher, and stopping distances are much longer, the little 'dot' that you see in your mirrors could sometimes catch you in seconds. Driving skills developed on different road types need to be adapted for the changed environment, and there are new things to learn, and skills to develop.
Eco Driving Course
read moreECO Driving is driving in such a way that is both environmentally friendly, and economical. Some people would probably want to abolish all cars, and have everyone either walking or cycling to save the planet! Some people will see it as their 'right' to drive as much as they want, where ever they want, when ever they want, and in the most gas guzzling, polluting, environmentally unfriendly car that they can find! All of us, (even the affluent) would gain some benefit by spending less on fuel, and causing less wear and tear to our cars.
