BID Group was set up in 1985 by John Thompson, now Managing Director. In the 1980s, the firm was formally known as Bolton Industrial Doors with a core business of repair and maintenance of all kinds of industrial doors. In 1987, Michael Calderbank, now Operations Director, joined BID Group. The firm continued to grow, grow and change premises several times to bigger sites until finally settling at the current purpose built manufacturing site and sales office in Westhoughton, Lancashire.
