At Home Veterinary Service

read moreSt Mary's was opened in Summer 2004. Whilst we continue to run the popular "At Home" service, having our own premises enables us to see more pets in a day, and to be able to manage our own surgical cases. It's situated in St. Mary's Way, in suburban Tamworth. Whilst we don't get many drive past customers, the location does enable our clients to be able to reach us easily, avoiding the traffic congestion and parking restrictions of a central location. Being situated in a residential area gives us the added advantage of living accommodation above the surgery.

We try to provide the best treatment for the majority of medical and surgical cases that come through the door, but we realise that there are areas where "Specialists" will have more expertise and experience. If your animal would benefit from a referral to a specialist, then we can arrange it, but in the majority of cases, we can sort things out in-house. Vaccination - Still an important part of preventative healthcare, and until these diseases are eradicated, it will remain so.

read moreI've now started my 5th Decade on this planet, and it's quite a while since anyone said I look too young to be a vet. I've now got over 24 years experience "In practice"- I'm not sure how much practice you need to make perfect, but it's quite possible that I may have already reached the peak of my powers. That peak was not quite as high as I'd envisaged when I set up on my own 17 years ago, but as you'll note from the lack of sarcastic comments, and any traces of bitterness in my writing, I'm content with my place in the grand scheme of things.

read moreWe may still consider home visits in exceptional circumstances, but it's certainly not a priority for us during the "New Normal". I'll leave the information below for the nostalgic, and perhaps the "old normal" will return one day. We still run our "At Home" service. It's not something I'm so keen to promote, but having purchased a new vehicle in November 2018, we're going to keep on rolling. Home visits are available on Weekdays between 11am and 4.00pm. Pre-booking helps us to organise our schedule, but we'll always try to fit in urgent calls, and can usually provide a same day response.
