Antique Bottles

I have a penchant for early stoneware. The different colours to the glaze varying from sandy to orange or maybe dark brown, sometimes subtle changes other times dramatic with the service that the potter had no control over the salt glazing nor did he care as these were utilitarian items and often the finger prints remaining on the item. Then there is the crudeness and texture of the glaze again varying from smooth and glassy to coarse and gritty. It is these factors that make stoneware so appealing. I do collect any bottle that I like be it stoneware, baby feeder, poison bottle or inkwell.
