read moreWe are frequently instructed to assist with conversion and refit projects on Dutch barges. Many existing barge conversions are old and require upgrading or total re-conversion. There is still a supply of unconverted vessels ripe for conversion. Whether it is a full conversion or a general or minor upgrade we can assist by recommending and drawing up the necessary specifications, assisting in the choice and briefing of contractors, and by overseeing the project as it proceeds. In certain instances we can if required manage the project ourselves using our own preferred contractors and workshop facilities in England or Belgium, or work can be carried out on site.

Barge Surveys: 2012 has been busy so far with surveys taking place on original and recent barges from 17 to 47 metres in Holland, Belgium, the South of France and of course the UK, for Australian, New Zealand, Swedish, English and Scottish based clients. The market for higher value barges appears stronger at the moment than for lower value ships, with significant activity despite the state of the economy in both the private and hotel / charter barge areas.

read moreThe pre-purchase condition survey is a detailed inspection, with a formal report on all accessible and significant (in our opinion) aspects of the vessel, with particular attention paid to hull condition. The survey will also cover significant aspects of the vessel's mechanical, electrical and fuel installations, and significant cosmetic qualities. The survey is intended to provide information which will assist the client in reaching a purchase decision. A detailed report is prepared including graded recommendations and suggestions for repairs and improvements.
