Allied Carpets
Tiling & Flooring Company in Basingstoke, Hampshire
Carpetland bought out the firm in December 1993 and changed their name to Allied Carpets. In 1994 the West Bromwich head office relocated to Kent and the stores stopped selling upholstery in order to focus on what they do finest, selling flooring. This strategy has remained to this day and Allied continue to be the major authority on flooring. By the late 90s Allied was purchased by Tapis Saint-Maclou, France's biggest carpet retailer. By the turn of the century Allied Carpets were the most recognisable flooring retailer in the UK.
