Many accountants provide an accounting service whereby your paperwork is prepared for the year end, your tax or annual return is prepared and filed and then once a year, normally some months after your actual year end you are informed whether or not you have made a profit and how much tax you owe. This relationship between firm/personal and accountant is often viewed as impersonal and sometimes unsatisfactory. Actual contact may only occur once a year, sometimes even less.
